How to Be An Awesome Board Member

For the last few years, TNSG has offered free webinars for nonprofit board leaders. ‘Why board members specifically?’ you might ask. A few reasons, first board members are the backbone of any nonprofit. Requisite for a high-functioning organization, board members need to understand their roles and have the necessary knowledge and tools to perform well. Second, there are very few resources out there for board members. Third, there are little to no free resources available to board members. We set out to change that in 2020 and we are continuing to provide these sessions in 2023!

This year we will continue our focus on the theme, “How to Be an Awesome Board Member”. Our motivation for doing this is fueled by the desire to help Executive Directors - who are really struggling right now by the way - build their boards into more self-sufficient and supportive bodies, strengthening their governance and community-focused activities.

This theme is also the focus of our upcoming book of the same title, “How to Be an Awesome Board Member.” You heard that right! We are authoring a book for board members to help them understand how they can be awesome at what they do! We anticipate that it will be available by the end of the year. In the meantime, join us for our free webinars! This next one addresses the “ambassadorial” role of board membership. What is the ambassadorial role? Board members have the responsibility to cultivate and steward prospective donors, connect community partners and community members on behalf of the organization, and advocate for the cause. The webinar will show you how.

Join us Wednesday, March 8th, for a one-hour lunch and learn session that will offer tools and tips on strategic outreach, networking, and the importance of consistent messaging. More information below:
